Bio Fermentation

    Part of our aim to achieve a sustainable business practice is the bio-fermentation plant located with the Princepeel Estate. Fermentation is a natural decomposition process during which biogas is released under controlled conditions. The biogas is converted into sustainable energy, i.e. green electricity, by means of a combined heat and power plant.
Reduction of the manure surplus
In addition to organic residual waste streams in the food industry and arable products, our biogas plant also processes manure. The residual product (digestate) from the biogas plant is biologically and sustainably processed and sold as a soil improvement agent (fertilizer) as a replacement for common agents such as artificial fertilizer.
This is how Kwaliflex reduces the manure surplus in the Netherlands.
Therefore, Kwaliflex offers important benefits to both suppliers of manure and the environment.
In addition, our plant has been awarded a category 3 accreditation (issued by the Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority). This authorises us to process products containing animal protein (such as unpacked foods, diary etc.).
Green electricity
The bio fermentation plant has a capacity of generating 4.6 Megawatts per hour of green electricity, which equals the annual energy requirement of approx. 12,000 households (source: Statistics Netherlands). This means a reduction of 19,000 tons of CO2 per year, which is equal to approx. 1 trillion of auto kilometres (diesel).

Processing of animal protein
Kwaliflex has been awarded a Category 3 accreditation by the Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority. This authorises the processing of products containing animal protein (such as unpacked foods, diary etc.).


Green electricity
The bio fermentation plant has a capacity of generating 6 Megawatts per hour of green electricity, which equals the annual energy requirement of more than 10.000 households (source: CBS). This means a substantial Co2 reduction a year.
